Top 10 Animated Movie Songs

A good animated movie wouldn’t be complete without the songs.  A classic animated movie usually has several good songs in it.  But only one or two – or, in the case of Tarzan, three – songs would stand out to define the movie.  This kind of songs would even become classics on their own.  They are generally inspiring, moving, and powerful.  They would make your skin crawl and fill your heart with emotion.

yup. a lot of which are from Disney

My top 10 picks, after the jump:

The Crappiest Song Ever!!!

WARNING: This is going to be a massively sadistic torturing of your ears.  Listen at your own risk.  You've been warned!

The effect of the song to a listener
And this vid actually went viral!  As I write this, it has more than 28 million views.  But look a bit closer at the ratio of likes to dislikes.
my point exactly...
Ok, I might be exaggerating.  There might be a worse song out there than this crap.  But nothing comes to mind as of now (remind me if you thought of a worse song).  Nonetheless, this is at least one of the the worst songs ever made.

Or at least when it's sang by Rebecca Black, it's the worst song ever.  Because, when covered by others, it sounds better!

Here's how it sounds with actually some "talent" in it:

There are other covers of "Friday" that you can watch in youtube that is better than the original.

Here's another one:

Made me LOL.  As one youtube commenter pointed out:
The fact that this video was made for fun, and the original video was made seriously still makes me laugh.
This cover > Original.
Exactly.

Is this song the worst song ever?  Or it is just real bad because Ms. Black sang it?  You be the judge.

When not criticizing in the "Experimental Theatre", Bernel is criticizing in "The Bernel Zone"...

I Am Haunted by the Number 23

23 appears on a TV show
I can see it everywhere. Everytime I check the time, it's always 23 minutes past the hour. When I check the sports news, somebody always poured 23 points or any stat line for the matter. Even in TV shows and movies, somehow number 23 always got mentioned. I can even see 23 sprayed on street graffiti. If I were to jot down the times how it appeared the past year, then it would take me 365 pages. Twenty-three is virtually everywhere!

This haunting experience happened after your death.
After 9 months of living together, we figured it out that we were not destined to be together, so you agreeably and painfully let me kill you. Zip the veil of the future, never to attempt to catch a glimpse. Bury the past and go on living each day without any thought of you. The thing we had was the best 'thing' I had, no doubt about it. No need to embellish it. Done.

There is a fine line between being really in love, and being really stupid in love. And I believe each person is given a chance to be both for ONCE in their life. And my one chance was with you. I was 30 and you were 16 goddammit! Clearly we should not go on seeing each other. We had to dine out in places where few people go (and enjoy silly feed offs with the pizza). We spent time at private gardens and not in malls so none of our friends can see us (and witness butterflies feasting on your sweet brown eyes). We didn't take the public transport for it would be certain stone-to-death for me if we'd been caught falling in love. We took risks, but it was unnecessary. We're really not meant to spend those 9 precious months together in anybody's book. But hell we did, and I'm supposed to forget all those things but your ghost keeps haunting me.

You are 23. You were born on the 23rd day. And it's always been you. We had 23 mutual friends. The day we first met falls on the 23rd day of the month, and the day you died was a lonely Saturday night of May. You are 23.

How can I forget you if you keep haunting me? Or does this mean that I really shouldn't have killed you?

(Since It's Valentines Month...) Top 10 Love Songs

For several years, every time the Valentines season arrives, I had posted “Bah, humbug!” as my status messages in the social networks I belonged in (first in Friendster, then in Facebook).  This year however, I am in the mood to “celebrate” the spirit of the season.  So, for my contribution to the Experimental Theatre this week, I am going to make this top 10 love songs.

Ranking love songs is hard.  Why?  Because 90% of all songs ever made have love or romance or something somehow related to love as their message or theme (Love or romance as a theme is everywhere).
Air Supply accounts for half of that 90%
So, I’m going to make the category of "love song" a little bit more definite by setting a context.  The only songs qualified to make the list are songs that are “romantic”.  You know, yung nakaka-in love kung baga.  I also excluded songs that are too “heartbreaking” for consideration, even if they have the “romantic” feel.  So, with a heavy heart, I have to not include my favorite Bon Jovi rock ballads, like “Bed of Roses”, “This Ain’t A Love Song”, and (especially) “Always”.  Though, there are one or two “heartbreak” ballads that made the cut, they are not that too heavily… mmm, what’s the right word… anguishing.  I hope you get what I mean.  Again, the category of love songs that I used is “it should be romantic” – the kind of music you would prefer to play in the background when you share a romantic dinner or a romantic (“sweet” – why is it called that way?) dance with that special someone.

(I also disqualified songs that were “traumatic” to me. LOL)

With that made clear, let’s start with number 10, after the jump…

Of People and Onions

People change. This is my sentiment when I wrote HEY LOVE. It still remains a mystery to me why the good, sweet people you know at first eventually fade away and turn into strangers. It's the greatest mystery in the world. An ugly truth. This song speaks about the truth.

I take back my opening statement.

This song is not about change. This song is about the truth. People don't change, they are just covered with mess, like onions; full of layers. When you first meet a person, she is already real. When she's nice, and all sweetness surrounds her, that's part of her outer layers. But when you get to know her deeply, you see her inner layers; monsters. Ergo we can't really say they change. It's just what they're made of. And that my friend is the ugly truth.
